Tally Assistant is an independent product — not affiliated with Tally Solutions Pvt Ltd (maker of TallyPrime and Tally ERP).
I'm Dominic, a developer and freelancer. Like most freelancers, I got paid through multiple channels — Stripe, PayPal, Wise, bank transfers, and occasionally Alipay when working with Chinese clients. Every month, I'd download 4-5 different CSVs, each with different columns, different date formats, different decimal separators, and different currencies. Reconciling them into one coherent view of my finances took 3-4 hours every month.
I tried QuickBooks. It rejected my European-format CSVs. I tried Xero. The setup took an hour and wanted me to configure a chart of accounts — I just wanted to know if I was profitable that month. I tried Wave, which was free but required me to manually categorize every transaction. I tried spreadsheets, which worked but didn't scale past 20 transactions a month.
The real breaking point was a PayPal screenshot. A client sent me a payment confirmation — just a screenshot from their PayPal app. I had to manually type the amount, date, and currency into my spreadsheet, then upload the screenshot somewhere as documentation. That's when I realized: AI should be doing this. OCR has been solved. CSV parsing has been solved. Currency conversion has been solved. Nobody had put them together into one tool built specifically for how freelancers actually get paid.
So I built Tally Assistant — an AI-native bookkeeping tool that reads any bank CSV format, scans payment screenshots, generates invoices from plain English, handles 30+ currencies, and sends automated payment reminders. All in one tool, designed for people who don't know accounting and don't want to learn.
Freelancers shouldn't need to learn accounting. AI should handle the complexity. You should get back to client work in under 2 minutes.
Freelancers work across borders. Your bookkeeping tool should handle any currency, any bank format, any language — without making it your problem.
We never sell your financial data, never use it to train AI models, and make it easy to export everything as CSV. No vendor lock-in. Full stop.
Categorizing transactions, calculating tax, chasing late payments — this is what AI is for. You should spend your time on work that matters.
Tally Assistant is built for independent freelancers and solopreneurs — designers, developers, writers, consultants, coaches, photographers, and anyone who gets paid for their work by clients around the world.
It is not built for businesses with employees who need payroll, inventory management, or multi-user accounting access. For those use cases, established tools like QuickBooks and Xero are better fits — and we tell people that honestly.
